Chains

I really love this book! It's by the author Laurie Halse Anderson and it's set in 1776 during the american revolutionary war, first in Africa then in new york. In the story there are two girl's named Isabel, the oldest, and Ruth, the youngest. They are both selled, from Mr Robert finch, to a malicious couple called the Locktons and Mrs lockton commits an unthinkable act of cruelty on Isabel and Ruth to break their spirit.

I like this book alot and I did enjoyed this too and I believe it was stuctured well with the story in Isabel's view.

The language is very readable and the charecters were very realistic and a little described and developed in the book but not by much. The charecters I liked were Isabel, Ruth and Curzon because they are the main charecters and they all have an adventure but for them all there is pain.

The themes and emotions in the story are anger, relief, happiness, pain, cruelty and desperation. The author is trying to say to that, for example, Isabel has been through alot because she has been a slave for a long time, even though she is young, and she promised to her mother to protected Ruth.

The settings are alittle bit described, not fully, but it does make me feel like I am there. The settings are described as a quite modern city in New york but not like the now-a-days city there. Its all very older with things in the past. So I think that this book is awesome!! I would give it a 9/10.

Wolf brother

Wolf brother is written by the author Michelle paver. This is the first book of the chronicles of ancient darkness series and its set thousands of years ago to the ancient darkness of the forest, in the new stone age.

First it starts with a twelve year-old boy named Torak who is wounded badly after a demon bear killed his father, who is cut off from the rest of the rest of the clans. Now his only ally is an orphened wolf cub who he can talk to and he must go north to the mountain of the world spirit to ask the world spirit to kill the demon bear because he took an oath to his father.

I like the story alot, it was structured well, with torak's world, Renn's world and Wolf's world. Most of the language in the book is understandable but some of the characters names are very unusual to read but some of them I can read.

I think the characters are well developed with their appearences and their personalities in the story. They all seem realistic to my point of view and the characters I like the charecters Torak, wolf, Renn, Fin-kedinn, Saunn and Toraks father.

Big emotions in the book is sadness, relief, happyness and anger. These show in Torak that at first he's angry and sad when his father died and he feels happier when he joins up with wolf and he feels reliefed when he's helped by Renn. The author is trying to say about Torak, as an example, that he has been lots of emotions and that he has been through alot in his life which must be difficult.

What the author is trying to say about the story is that life in that part of the timeline, it must have been rough for some people, especially the people who are outcast's because they had to hunt for food all the time, there were sicknesses and diseases and there were demon's and Tokoroth's which are very dangerous. They are creatures from the dead.

The settings of the story is the open forest in Europe which does have other settings beside the open forest like sea, mountains, deep forest and the far north but in this book, it's only in the open forest. The setting is alittle bit described in the book but not 100% exactly but the author made me feel like I'm there.

So for the whole story, I'd give the book 8 out of 10. So please try out this book, its very good!!!
